BRIO and plastic

Wood is and has always been the main material in BRIO’s products. Plastic details are also included in many of our products today where we feel it can lend unique play value. In addition to boosting extra play value, our material choices are driven by our high commitment to meet strict toy safety requirements.

As opposed to wood, which can only be processed, plastic can be shaped in various forms and detailed design. Hence, it is easy to incorporate plastic materials in wood-based toys. The two materials supplement each other very well.

There are many types of plastic, but those most frequently used by BRIO are thermoplastics. They are extremely impact-resistant, have a smooth surface and are also used in phones, computers, medical equipment, and LEGO bricks.
